According to Wikipedia, “Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow anybody to access them. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. The service is free to use over the Internet, but using SMS may incur phone service provider fees.”
I created a twitter account, http://twitter.com/Alameda_Eagles with the purpose of getting the Fraternal Order of Eagles name out there and to help publicize our events and fundraising efforts as they come up. In my opinion, Social Media and Social Networking are the ways of the future. If used correctly it can help us raise money for our charities and gain new members. Since it is the 21st century, we need to embrace each piece of new technology as it comes around. The new look of the website was the first part of that. We still have our “Static Pages” but the main page is now easier to update since it uses a blog interface. Anything that is posted using the Twitter account it is posted in seconds. I am going to attempt to tweet from State Convention and see how it works. I think this is a great experiment and am hoping it will be successful.

Why save pop tabs?
Saving pop tabs from aluminum cans is an easy and environmentally friendly way of supporting the Sacramento Ronald McDonald House. You can store them in containers to be transported to the House and they don’t take up alot of room. This program began in Minneapolis where the community collected One Million (1,000,000) [...]

It might work as long as it is not used to promote a personal agenda.

The meaning behind this comment on this post is that last week sometime I tweeted my personal feelings and said a couple of things that were not right when they should have been tweeted from my own personal twitter account. When I got called on it, i immediatly deleted the posts.
The tweets made prior to the election were just to get members to come and vote and were no way meant to be campaigning.
